How to choose a sunscreen for your skin type

Oily or acne-prone skin. Look for gels, fluids and watery textures that sink in fast and don't leave shine. Good matches are Deconstruct Gel Sunscreen, Missha All Around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel, Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel, Dot & Key Watermelon Cooling Sunscreen and WishCare Niacinamide Oil Balance Fluid Sunscreen.

Dry or normal skin. Choose creams, milks and sun serums with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, rice or ceramides. Try SKIN1004 Madagascar Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum, Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun, Missha Soft Finish Sun Milk or K-Secret Seoul 1988 Sun with ceramide.

Sensitive skin. Pick soothing or mineral formulas with fewer extras, like AXIS-Y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen, Mamaearth Mineral Based Sunscreen, COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream, iUNIK Centella Calming Daily Sunscreen or Dot & Key Barrier Repair Sunscreen. Patch test any new product first.

Kids, body and on the go. Use a formula made for children, such as Joona Baby Sun Fresh Suncream. For arms and legs, a larger body lotion like WishCare Sunscreen Body Lotion is easier to spread (see all body sunscreens). Sun sticks from SKIN1004 and the Dot & Key Sunscreen Mist make reapplying over makeup simple.

Tinted and tone-up. Tone-up creams such as Christian Dean Secret Tone Up Sun Cream and Celimax Heart Pink Tone Up Sun Cream, or the Dot & Key Strawberry Dew Tinted Sunscreen, give a light even-toned finish and can replace a primer. See all Dot & Key sunscreens.

Chemical vs physical (mineral) sunscreen

Chemical sunscreens use UV filters that absorb UV light. They usually feel lighter and leave no white cast, which is why most gels and sun serums are chemical. Physical or mineral sunscreens use zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which sit on the skin and reflect UV light. They are often chosen for sensitive skin and children, but some can leave a slight white tint. Many modern sunscreens combine both.

What SPF and PA mean

SPF tells you how well a sunscreen protects against UVB rays, which cause sunburn. PA (from PA+ to PA++++) shows protection against UVA rays, which cause tanning and signs of sun ageing. For everyday use in Bangladesh, choose SPF 30 or higher with PA+++ or PA++++. "Broad spectrum" on a label means it covers both UVA and UVB.

How to apply sunscreen

Use about two finger-lengths for the face and neck as the last step of your morning routine, 15 minutes before going out. Reapply every 2 hours when you are outdoors, and after sweating, swimming or wiping your face.

Frequently asked questions

Which sunscreen suits oily skin?

Gel and fluid sunscreens suit oily skin because they feel light and dry down without shine. Popular choices at Nokkhotro include Deconstruct Gel Sunscreen, Missha Aqua Sun Gel and Dot & Key Watermelon Cooling Sunscreen.

Are the sunscreens at Nokkhotro original?

Yes. Every product at Nokkhotro is sourced from authorised distributors and importers in Bangladesh, so you always get genuine products.

What is the sunscreen price in Bangladesh? (sunscreen er dam koto?)

Prices depend on the brand, size and formula. You can compare every sunscreen's current price on this page, and filter or sort by price. You pay cash on delivery anywhere in Bangladesh.

Do I need sunscreen indoors or on cloudy days?

UVA rays pass through clouds and windows, so daily sunscreen is a good habit even on cloudy days or if you sit near a window.

Can I wear sunscreen under makeup?

Yes. Apply sunscreen, wait a few minutes for it to set, then apply makeup. Light gels and tone-up creams sit well under foundation, and a sun stick or mist helps you reapply over makeup.

How do I remove sunscreen at night?

Use a cleansing oil or micellar water first, then your usual face wash. This "double cleanse" removes sunscreen properly, especially water-resistant formulas.
